Craig Faulconbridge welcomed some 26 potential new students along with the current Academy Team to the Aylesbury Vale Academy 3G facility and put them through their paces in a two hour session.

What is the Academy

The Football Academy is a 2-year, full-time Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Professional and Non-League Football Clubs.

Why join the Aylesbury FC Academy? The Aylesbury FC Academy is the pinnacle of the football clubs development programme and the final stage of preparation prior to reserve and first team football.
With our ever expanding youth system, we have developed a fantastic reputation for nurturing and developing young, talented players into professional and Non-League Football. A key component to this will be the delivery of the programme by Academy manager Craig Faulconbridge, who himself has had the experience of going through a similar programme 15 years ago, that enabled him to both fulfil his playing ambitions of playing professional football whilst cementing a firm educational back ground to enable a career after football.

Who can join the Academy?
Open to talented footballers aged between 16–18 years, the Academy Programme is a must for any football enthusiast. A playing trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability. Places at the Academy will be offered after each trial until the availability within the current Academy squad is filled.

Where will the Academy be held?
Both the Football training and Academic studies will be based at The Football ground where it has an excellent range of facilities including: training and match pitches, full size portable goals and also the use of designated Academy classroom facilities. Academy home games will be played on the Stadium Pitch.

Academy Education Over the 2-year programme Academy players will study a variety of National Recognised qualifications within the subject of Sport, Coaching & Fitness. The educational programme will include qualifications such as BTEC, NVQ and Diploma’s, delivered at Level 2 and 3 (A-Level equivalence).

Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into higher education at selected Universities and employment opportunities within the Sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America. (Applicants must be at least 18 years or over to qualify for a permanent or temporary VISA)
Who will deliver the Education Advanced Sports Ltd, a college and work based training provider, along with Aylesbury College, will be responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of the Academy, and with over 5 years experience in delivering various work and classroom based educational programmes, Advanced Sports Ltd have the credentials and experience to run the programme, with Aylesbury College providing the necessary support and resources to ensure each student has every opportunity to succeed

Academy Football
All academy players will receive daily training involving individual and team coaching from highly Qualified FA coaches affiliated to the football club.
Players will receive guidance on individual football fitness, nutritional advice and a regular appraisal to monitor each player’s development both on and off the pitch. Players will have the opportunity to represent the football club through the Academy, youth, college or reserve team, with the aim to progress into the first team or higher.

Craig Faulconbridge - Academy Manager
The scheme will be overseen by Craig Faulconbridge, who will work closely with the Academy in developing players to senior level as part of both his and the Club’s investment into the overall youth structure.
Craig will also deliver the education at the club and will be the overall manager of the scheme. With over 20 years playing, 10 within the football league and Premier League, and over 5 years within the education system as an NVQ, VRQ and B-Tec tutor, he has the experience and professionalism to guide students and players through the start of their careers
