Social Media Boycott

Social Media Boycott

Admin admin26 Apr 2021 - 13:17

The club will boycott all social media from 3pm on 30th April to midnight 3rd May

As a proud community club with members from all walks of life, we feel it is vital that we support English football in its Social media boycott to raise awareness and prompt the social media giants to do something about the disgusting racial abuse they allow to be spread on their global platforms. These organisations have a huge responsibility to protect from vile racial abuse and threats, and should be putting strict sanctions in place.

Social media plays a huge part in our lives and has become an important part of clubs like ours to be able to share information and positive content. We pride ourselves on being a non prejudice, welcoming and approachable club for everybody regardless of skin colour, religious beliefs or background.

Personally, being Chairman of such a diverse multicultural club, as well as having a mixed raced family of my own, it is a subject close to my heart, and something I’m extremely proud of, and I back the stand 100% and hope that it forces the powers that be to finally make a change.

We stand with the other clubs and organisations who are boycotting social media from 30th April - 3rd May in the hope that social media companies will do more to eradicate online hate.

We thank you for your support and hope you join us in supporting the boycott.

Mike Borrett
AVDFC Chairman.
