Dynamos bow out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle

The Dynamos exited the FA Cup at the first hurdle after a full blooded affair at Haywood Way. It was a game that Aylesbury could and possibly should have won if the chances created had been taken, Windsor on the other hand capitalised on one goalkeeping error and converted a very soft penalty to move into the next round.

It was the home side that should have scored first when after just one minute a ball from the left was fizzed into the back post along the six yard line but Lamar Mason-Williams somehow managed to put the ball wide when scoring looked easier, the first of a number of chances not converted that were to have a major impact on the outcome of this FA Cup tie.

After just nine minutes Windsor took the lead, a ball over the top saw Dan Wilson and Alex McGowan chasing the ball back as Archie Davis raced from his goal but the keepers clearance only reached Billy Montague and his first time lob over Davis nestled in the back of the Dynamos net.

Charlie Jackson was having a good game alongside Alfi Touceda in the middle of the park without being able to bring the three Aylesbury strikers into the game as they were being shackled by the Windsor back four. On one mazey run Jackson showed his class gliding through four players before laying the ball off to Dave Brown who was fouled outside the box and the opportunity came to nothing.

Just after the break Archie Davis made good his earlier error by racing out at the feet of a Windsor forward who was racing towards the goal, there was a crunching tackle as the young keeper dived at the feet of the onrushing striker and somehow came away with the ball without being injured. Davis then palmed a left foot strike over the bar as Windsor got a grip on the game and for a ten minute period the home side struggled to repel them.

Having failed to make an imnpact in the first half Dan Lambeth was now starting to come into the game and on fifty two muntes he picked the ball up on the left hand side and his marauding run down the left ended with a cross to the near post but Lewis Workman somehow screwed the ball past the post when the home fans behind the goal thought it would have been easier to score. Five minutes later and it was Lambeth again who drove frward and the weak clearance from Windsor fell at the feet of Alfi Touceda, he saw an opportunity to lob the keeper but couldn't quite get his technique right and the ball went wide.

Lewis Workman then had another opportunity when away keeper Nojus Trinovas somehow managed to gift the ball to him inside the box but the Aylesbury striker just didn't seem to be able to get a clear strike and the chance came to nothing. Sam Austin then had a header from a corner that was tipped over the bar as The Dynamos pushed for an equaliser. On seventy minutes the away side were awarded a controversial penalty when Dan Wilson appeared to have made a great tackle inside the penalty area but the referee didn't agree and Montague tucked the ball away for two goal lead.

Darnell Ramsey and Jake Baldwin then replaced Brown and Mason-Williams and the home side, now on the front foot despite behind, pushed forward to try and resue the tie. Dan Lambeth fired wide from the edge of the box after breaking free of the defence. With eight minutes remaining Darnell Ramsey pulled one back, cutting in from the left and firing home as the ball took a deflection off of a defender. There was an incident on the far touchline which involved most of the players and management from both sides which held up play for five minutes and resulted in yellow cards for both managers. With time running down Alfi Touceda found Jake Baldwin on the right, he cut back and his cross was headed wide by Lambeth.

This was to be the last opportunity as the referee brougth the game to a halt after six minutes of injury time and The Dynamos were out of the Cup at the first hurdle
