Manager Phil Granville made one change from victory at Edgware last week with Roy Byron replacing Lewis Merridan in midfield, Merridan dropped to the bench as the side started with the same three man defence and two wing backs that had been deployed the previous week. Seventeen year old Jake Baldwin, fresh from his four goal haul in midweek for the U18s continued up front partnering the experienced Ben Gill.
It was a fantastic start for the Dynamos as after just two minutes Ben Gill met a Harry Scott corner at the near post and headed past Oxhey keeper Davis Boatang for the lead. Oxhey though, sixth in the table were in no mood to sit back and came straight back taking the game to Aylesbury with slick passing and speed down the wings, causing the Dynamos back three lots of problems. James Weatherill saved a shot from Carlos Simau who was terrorising the back three of the home side.
After eleven minutes Weatherill made another excellent save from Antonie Akinola after a good move from the Jets ended with Akinola one on one with Weatherill but the Aylesbury keeper was equal to the task and kept the striker out. Oxhey at this point were having much the better of the play but they weren't able to make that possesion count until the twenty second minute when Carlos Simau picked the ball up twenty five yards out and unleashed an unstoppable shot, which Weatherill did well to even get a hand to as the ball flew into the top corner.
The home side now changed to a four man defence in a bid to stop the Oxhey attacking wave and two minutes later had a chance to regain the lead when a great mve down the right involving Alfi Touceda, Harry Scott and Jake Baldwin ended with a ball in to the box which Scott flicked just over the bar. Craig Carby hobbled off after half an hour and was replaced by Derek Feyi.
With the new four man defence the game was now a lot more even and after thirty five minutes Aylesbury re took the lead, Alfie Gaspar played a ball inside the defender on the left hand side, Ben Gill latched onto the pass cut inside onto his right foot and rifled the ball past the Oxhey keeper. Four minutes later and it should have been three. A ball out of defence by Harry Scott was chested by Jake Baldwin into the path of Ben Gill, Baldwin contInUed his run and was found by Gill, the young striker charged in on goal but put his shot just wide.
Half Time AVDFC 2 Oxhey Jets 1
Ben Gill almost got his hat trick on the hour, a great ball over the top from Jake Baldwin found Gill, he battled with the defender and eventually off a shot but it was saved by Boatang. Gill had another chance on seventy minutes when ball played from left to right found the strikerl on the right who and he tried to lob the keeper first time but the ball sailed high and wide.
The visitors almost equalided on seventy six minutes when Simao fired over from a tight angle. Ben Gill then had a left foot shot palmed away and Harry Scott fired wide as the game drew to a close.
This was a good victory against a side battling at the top of the division but with games in hand Aylesbury have shown that there current position is false and with a new resiliance will be difficult to beat.
