After two poor defeats, Phil Granville made five changes to the starting line up against mid-table Crawley Green.
Abu Khan, Craig Carby, Lewis Merridan and Bruno Brito all returned to the starting line up with U18 defender, Jack Elsey, making his debut.
Aylesbury started brightly with Bruno Brito finding Harry Scott on the left wing, using his pace to find a cross to Alfie Gaspar. Alfie’s shot went over the bar but a strong start. Crawley then had a chance of their own but they also shot over James Weatherill’s bar. Ten minutes in and Dynamos had another chance, Abu Khan and Alfie Gaspar combined well and sent Bruno Brito away. He skipped past a challenge and crossed to Lewis Merriden who had got into the box but just not able to make the connection.
Alfie Gaspar had started well and his quick feet led to another chance, this time he took the shot on, but it was blocked. Moments later Alfie Gaspar was fouled on the right wing. Bruno Brito swung the free kick into the box but the Crawley Keeper fisted it away. Dynamos were clearly on top and having the majority of possession. On twenty two minutes Abu Khan received the ball and played a lovely through pass to Harry Scott, but he was adjudged to have strayed offside. Just less than half an hour and Crawley swing a free kick into the back post and Crawley player hits his shot wide of the mark…a warning for Dynamos.
The Dynamos were in control and Lewis Merridan then found room and played Alfie Gaspar in, he sidestepped his man and hit a great shot which was well saved. From the goal kick, Derek Feyi headed the ball to Joe Fitzgerald who played a superb ball down the line to find Bruno Brito, his shot fizzed wide of the goal. A few minutes before half time and Crawley hit a similar free kick which again eluded the defence and the Crawley header was saved by James Weatherill.
Half time 0-0….somehow…!?
Five minutes into the second half and Abu Khan won a corner with some quick feet. Bruno Brito curled a lovely ball into the middle and Craig Carby rose the highest to plant his header inches wide of the mark. Best opportunity so far. Still only one team in this match. Then the best two chances of the match fell to Harry Scott. First Abu Khan, who was a real handful for Crawley, played the winger in, he hit his shot at the keeper who saved well. Moments later Alfie Gaspar was provider, this time a clear one on one with the keeper, but again the home stopper saved.
On fifty five minutes Abu Khan battled well to shield the ball and sets up Craig Carby with a long range strike, his screamer went just wide of the post. Minutes later Lewis Merridan found himself out wide and hit a cross to Bruno Brito who went to volley the ball, when a header looked the better option, his shot missed the target but a couple of feet…how many chances were the Dynamos going to create? On sixty nine minutes Jack Elsey got forward on the left, beat his man and forced a corner. Harry Scott hit a long ball in which fell to the feet of Alfie Gaspar. His shot went through the keepers legs and rolled agonisingly towards the goal, but was just about cleared on the line by the Crawley defender.
Then a nightmare five minutes for the Dynamos…a long ball over the top and Crawley managed to find space and score. Minutes later, a very similar goal as another ball was controlled, crossed and finished in an excellent move that carved open the awayside. After all the pressure, and many chances, suddenly Aylesbury were 2-0 down. Alfi Touceda and Keith Mupfururirwa were thrown into the mix, replacing Lewis Merridan and the energetic Alfie Gaspar. The action wasn’t finished as rash tackle on Abu Khan saw him get a yellow card for his reaction, but also saw him withdrawn for Dan Wilson for the final few minutes.
The final action saw another injury with Alfi Touceda making a fine challenge, but getting the ball whacked straight in his face, seeing him flat out. After a couple of minutes he was also withdrawn as a precaution.
Final score Crawley Green 2-0 AVDFC.
